As some may know I have been an active member of the Saint John ATV club for a few years now. I've been involved with the grooming side for at least 8 of those years. We have a few members that just don't understand about the cost of grooming and the time involved. If the trail is not done the day they want to go out they get behind the keyboard and vent. We groomed Thursday night hoping for a descent trail for the weekend and the blizzard hit. The sun came out Sunday, another winter weather warning in the forecast and they are all over us. My frustration level just keeps climbing. Do the rest of the clubs experience this ????

I was on the executive of our club some years back and i can
tell you that as soon as you please half, the other half will be
pissed at you. To please everyone, you'd have to have all the
trails fixed so there's no bumps and groomed at all times.
When there's a heavy rain fall and the trail is damaged, it
should have been fixed the next day, if not sooner. Even then
someone would gripe about something. So do the best you
know how and feel great when someone actually thanks you
for doing what you do. THANK YOU.

We had 2 of our Guys go out and put in 18 hours Friday (not Thursday like my original post) The did a great job and then it took 2 or 3 people a mere seconds destroy their moral. Nothing short of bullies in my book. Shame on those the do this.

You are correct, shame on them. They have no idea the work these guys do (mostly free) for them to enjoy only to get bullied.
Now I tell them my spot is available next election or shut the fuck up. Time for volunteers to take their lives back one way or another. Either by saying I had enough or tell the complainers where to go.

Yea, your not the only club with that issue. we probably just lost our groomer crew due to clueless people.

Any club any-where any type that requires work has workers
and whiners. Fact of life. Reason being is those that work and
give understand what it takes to get shit done. 2c worth

It happens everywhere Old Yeller... Its not right or fair.
Its usually done by so called members sitting home in the
Lazy Boy Recliners with a remote in their hand and have
no idea the time and personel exspence other members
put in. Pay no attention to it...

99% of the time someone is complaining is because they don't have the
correct info. Information is key, the more people know the truth, the
more they will understand.
If anything is questioned, explain the facts and move on....and try not
to take it personal lol

Here is what I wrote on our clubs facebook page today
I
want to take this moment to give a big shout out to GROOMER operators
from our club and all other clubs. They really do a thankless job.
You can go here and read some stories developing http://www.nbatvforum.com/soopPortal/forum/forum_posts.asp…
I know our ATV trail takes around 16 hours on a good day to do and our
Sled trail takes another 6 to 8 hours, and our neighbor club, theirs
take 36 hours. doesn't get done with the flick of a switch. And
with the snow we are getting in EAST NB and other parts of NB they can't
keep up. So next time, instead of cursing at them, put yourself in
their shoes. Family time missed, riding time missed, all for you to have
some trails. HATS OFF to ALL OF THEM. and for those that think
they can do better, ask your peers or exec committees when the next
meeting is and attend and speak and make suggestions and offer help.
