I would like to thx. Chris for bring clarity to the previously misinformed
poster. Before A person posts belittling and condemning a whole group
using misinformation they should have their facts straight. My hats off
to all the volunteers. Chris, kc, dp, RIncon runner and so many others I
have had the privilege to know and work with in my time as head of
trails for ACTB. That system is a better system because of you all. We
should never let the few full of misfounded negativity overshadow the
great work we continue to try and do. :-).
Regards
Gd

A big X2 AM. We do a call out before every meeting and we average about a dozen at the meetings out of over 400 including the executive. Luckily we have more people actually do work on the trails but sadly many would rather just bellyache.

Honestly (I know its not going to happen) but I would remove all sort
of comments, facebook and e-mail correspondence opportunity to shit
on the great volunteers.
I still say, Call them directly, and we'll see how brave they really
are...
Its too easy typing and complaining... (Haha look at me go; Typing
and complaining against whiners....) See...My point exactly!!! haha
Thank you Mighty groomer people!!!!
Edit: to answer your question; we also get some nasty postings on
facebook in our club too

It's the same with any group, any type of club, any union. Few show
up with shovels in hand but many bitch behind your back.
I ran for president of a club once (not ATV) at the urging of others. I
resisted because, I said, if president I would fire half the staff and
raise prices and cut open hours, and nobody would want that.
At the election there were 54 voters. I got 52 votes.
The next week, I fired half the staff, raised prices and cut open
hours, as promised.
The next monthly meeting was the largest we ever had in the 50-
year history of t he organization, as everyone was coming to lynch
me for firing half the staff, cutting open hours, and raising prices.
LOL!
Good luck fellas! Hope you have broad shoulders and can turn off
your hearnig aids. It helps!

Hi Fred. We are a smaller club compared to yours, but yes we have the same issue. As soon as the first blizzard hit, is the groomer out, is the groomer out? 2nd blizzard, is the groomer out? I want groomed trails. Can I get out? What most people don't see is the work before, during, and after grooming. The maintenance involved getting machines ready, and repairing the break downs, let alone the hours spent making nice trails, getting stuck, cold, frustrated, etc. We don't pay our operator, and he does all maintenance and repairs free of charge, and stores the equipment.
This winter we went from no snow to too much in 10 days, PLUS the fact it isn't good snow to groom yet. People only see snow and expect the best trails 24 hours later. I don't get upset, I tell them to come to meetings and voice their concerns if they think we are doing it wrong. Guess what, never happens.

I tell the person that is never satisfied. Sell your atv and your computer or you will get a heart attack. The people that do all the grooming don't have the time to play with the computer.

same with our club..it takes about 40 hours to groom all of our trails,,and
we are on top of it pretty well considering the snow we had,,guys meeting
up and trading off to get the trails done,,and fixing breakdowns on the
fly,,we have a pretty good bunch of guys, and even the complaining is at a
minimum,,on fb anyways

Yeah V-twin man we have the X spirts coming out of the woodwork when the snow comes. Some believe it is a paving machine. Problem is sometimes you say" the groomer will be out at such and such a time and they are damn near right behind you. Arrrrgh but is what it is. Trails are starting to get better now so should be good goin till it all goes away.
